Missing or invalid ActiveX/COM Subkey entry

Every time I run Norton's Win Doctor (Yeah I know, but I like Norton) i get 15 or more messages "Missing or invalid ActiveX/COM Subkey entry."

I did a google search and an MG search but only came up with one entry (edited post below)

".... When this starts happening, I run Norton Win doctor, and inevitably the same repair items turn up the same 15 "Missing or invalid ACTIVEX/COM subkey entry" noted as medium severity. I also get 1 "missing shortcut". After executing repair, things seem to work fine........until the same thing happens next time I run Win Doctor.
Running virus and trojan scans reveal no problems, nor does Norton disk doctor.
Suggestions? "

I run PestPatrol, AVG, AdAware, Spybot and lots of other stuff including RegCleaner and the message only shows up on Win Doctor.
Searches using find on ActiveX and CLSID in folders and text don't help me much to progress further. Baz

 

Which version of the Norton product do you have and which operating system?

This is not really a problem, more an annoyance. The errors are fixed by WinDoctor each time but appear again every time I run WinDoctor. As stated in the previous posts they don't seem to harm anything.

Maxwell. I will check out the links, thanks. I am surprised there is so little on google about it, if it is common. Maybe it's not?

Specs are Windows 98 SE Gateway Solo 9300XL Laptop 288mb RAM (maxed out) 30gig Harddrive Pentium P2/400. Software is Norton Utilities v3.o for 95/98. I know it is an old one . I used to have NU 2002 installed but a disk crash a long time ago wiped it. I had lent my copy of 2002 to a "friend" some time ago to get him out of a bind and I could never get it back.

Same error occurred on both versions. Baz
