I am experiencing a very annoying problem in Windows XP.
When attampting to launch many of the applications an error message appears saying that the path to the .exe file is missing in C:/program files.
This is also happening for many of the control panel icons, and even the disk defragmenter.
Even if I go into explorer and find the .exe file for the application and double click the same error message appears.
Anyone seen this and can you help?
    Thanks

    Hi

As many issues are different, its best to have your own thread to keep th information directed at you over multiple question askers, so do from this thread follow the advice in this post from Evilfantasy http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showpost.php?p=1150000&postcount=10 especially try the EXE File Association Fix (Restore default association for EXE files) from DougKnox, all you need to do is to download it and double click and merge with registry.

Could be corrupt registry. Create a new account, log into it, try things out.
