    Hi

Moved your post to its own thread as the original poster of the thread was using Windows XP and that dll was a version of an XP one and not one for Windows 7.

So download the attached file as its from my personal PC thats running Windows 7 SP1

Uninstall Skype and download but do not install the latest version HERE, if you have any security applications then disable them for the duration of the install.

Then download and save to your desktop then unzip the file (right click Extract) then copy and paste the pdh.dll to your C:\Windows\System32 and right click in a blank area and choose paste to paste the file, if you get any warnings click OK.

Then to activate the file, you need to open an elevated command prompt in Windows 7 and to do this type CMD into the Start Search box and then when it shows right click it nad choose Run as Administrator

Then at the prompt type regsvr32 C:\Windows\System32\pdh.dll (do note a space between 2 and C) and hit enter

Then reboot and install Skype and see how you get on.

Dont know why you are getting a mapi32 error as thats an Outlook file, you are not browsing the forum via Outlook are you? if you are use IE or Firefox.

@those that may have searched for this issue, please read:
This pdh.dll is for Windows 7 only, if you have another version of Windows then you will need a different version of this dll, so please do start a new thread on your issue and name your Windows version, version of Skype and an error messages you get.

The module :\windows\system32\pdh.dll was loaded but the entry point dll register server was not found. make sure the c:\windows\system32\pdh.dll is valid dll or ocx file then try again.

Lets go to safe mode in Windows. Restart, tap the f8 key before the splash screen and choose safe mode. See if you can acccess system restore. Check the settings to be sure it is on as well. Let me know.

If not, I hate to say I have a malware concern that might be blocking your access in which case a run of Malwarebytes might be a good idea.

    Re: MISSING pdh.dll and mapi32.dll

In regards to the mapi32.dll error, have you seen if you actually have this file?

Goto C:\Windows\System32 and look for mapi32.dll.
If it's there, try renaming it with a .old extension.
Next in the same directory, there is a executable called fixmapi.exe
Double click that and it should recreate a new mapi32.dll file

Tell me if that resolves at least part of your problem.

ok when i go to fixmap it will not open, does that mean i have a malware?

Well it will not open up anything, sorry I forgot to mention that, but it should create a new folder, but first...lets address the other issue.

You need to take ownership of that file mapi32.dll

    • Right click the file, goto Properties/Security/Advanced/Owner/Edit/Other users or groups.
    • Type in your windows username, and give yourself full rights.
    • O.k. those changes, then on the main security tab click edit, add your username there with full rights, then save.

You should be able to rename the file.

ok,we have a problem, when i do that it shows

trusted installer full control who the heck is that and what is that.

then it has admin/me with read and execute ?? why onlythat
then it has system with read and execute ????
then it has users me/pc/users read and execute??

it will not let me change anything. malware???

Trusted installer is just a usergroup/name for installing Windows components.

so when you follow those instructions, does it look like it's going to let you change it, or what? post a screenshot please.

o.k. you might need to login to Windows with the hidden administrator account.

    Do the following.

    • Goto Computer, rightclick and click Manage
    • Under users you will see an account called administrator.
    • right click on it and set a password.
    • Now logout of Windows and login with that administrator username and the password for that account you just created.
    • Now try to do what I stated before and see if it works?

    no no. sorry.

Don't rename the fixmapi.dll file. Change it back.

You'll want to rename the mapi32.dll file then double click on the fixmapi.exe file.

O.k. before you go that route try this.

goto a command prompt type in sfc /scannow

let it reboot, see if those files came back and or your problem is resolved.
