Missing Protocols After Windows 10 Updated

have a laptop that was upgraded from windows 7 to windows 10. was connecting to the internet just fine til last night after an update.

icon on wireless shows internet connection. ran trouble shooter came out with the result of "one or more network protocols are missing on this computer".

checking details says "windows sockets registry entries required for network connectivity are missing".

running try these repairs as administrator does not solve the issue.

guess that leads me to how can i fix this issue?

Try Tweaking.com - Windows Repair.

Click the Repairs tab, ensure Automatically Do A Registry Backup is checked, and then click Open Repairs. Click Unselect All Repairs (white square at bottom left) and just select 13 - Repair Network. Click Start Repairs and restart the PC.
If this doesn't work, run the program again and follow all the steps.

Great work. Have you considered submitting a tutorial on using Tweaking.com? I was just wondering, having installed the program one time many moons ago. I had trouble understanding exactly what the program does, so I backed off of giving it a whirl, considering I didn't have any problems at the time. I would love to see a practical knowledge guide that explains a little bit about when to use the various options. For sure, you seem to have a great working hands-on knowledge with Tweaking.

I should be happy, but I can't seem to get any experience with Tweaking.com. I don't know why, but I never have the kind of problems that the program fixes. I sure do see TONS of praises for it all over the net, though...

I have been in contact with the author of the program for a completely unrelated issue. And he is a great person, and a personal friend of Major Attitude.
When I have the time, I will consider your suggestion.

Since installing Windows 10 I have repeated limited internet with '"one or more network protocols are missing on this computer". I downloaded Tweaking.com and followed instructions--ran the repair section twice. Still got limited internet and message as above. So I ran just the network repair section of Tweaking.com--still have the same problem. So every time this happens I have to go into Command Prompt, run it as administrator, Type “netsh int ip reset” and then hit the Enter. Then I have to Restart, that is a pain in the neck. Sometimes have to do this more than once in an internet session. Do you have other more permanent fixes?

There's no magical fix. If you have a problem, start a thread and give us all the details.
FYI We helped 2 members even though I have never seen Windows 10.

I would run chkdsk /r if Tweaking.com didn't correct the issue. This will check/repair if possible the integrity of the file system on your PC and check the health of your main drive and move data from bad sectors. Instructions:

Search bar type Command Prompt->right click and select "run as administrator"->at the prompt type chkdsk /r. When prompted to run during next boot, select yes. Reboot to run the chkdsk /r.

Tweaking.com isn't magical. It's a compilation of fixes that are known to resolve problems in many cases. Google the program to see all the testimonials. It's pretty unbelievable honestly how many issues Tweaking can resolve. It' s for sure something to keep in mind for times when you have an issue that seems unresolvable...that and chkdsk...

Tweaking.com suggestion seemed to fix my issue also. Thanks! We'll see how long it lasts. I'm running Win 10 version 1511 and 27 times throughout the day my internet bails. Running troubleshoot results in "One or more network protocols are missing on this computer" OR "The default gateway is not available". Sometimes it fixes itself, sometimes not and I have to resort to SeEtta's course of action. Rarely is my speed good even though a test shows it up to par. And the funny thing is the test takes forever to initiate. It's like everything is running thru a funnel or something. My question...is the default gateway notice simultaneously fixed with the 13 - Repair Network?
