Missing Spoolsv.exe File

I have a post on the malware forum, needed help getting rid of trojandownloader.xs. It had no replies for a couple of days so we are not finished there yet, I am not having any popup problems anymore But instead a software issue, so i figured i would post that part where it belongs.
My spoolsv.exe file is in the sys.32 folder but not in the services folder under the administrative section. I cannot load a printer. Error mesage says spool services is not running. hp live support is telling me to reinstall everything
at this point i am about ready to do that! does anybody have a better solution. thank you for any help

 

A repair install should fix the problem without any data loss....
Here's a link to a 'how-to' complete with screen shots http://www.windowsreinstall.com/winxppro/installxpcdrepair/indexfullpage.htm It's for XP Pro but the process is exactly the same for XP Home; when you see the word 'Pro' or 'Professional' replace it with the word 'Home'.... be sure your BIOS is set to boot to the CD first. This is the default setting on many PCs but you should double check to be sure.
