missing typelib issues

    Hi all, These showed up in my cclean after I did a system restore a few days ago. I have waited a few days to see if they would clear out themselves but they havent and in light of all the other system errors I have been getting I would really like to know what they are. Hope I have the right forum.:confused

    Hi

    Do you have Norton installed or have just updated or uninstalled it? if you did uninstall it and use another Antivirus now then check Add/remove for any Norton references, and uninstall, plus use the Norton removal Tool HERE. If you do still use Norton then just remove the old registry entries as listed below.

    As many of those are linked to Norton Antivirus, and various parts like .sca is the data file that Norton keeps its logs in, many of the TypeLibs are Nortons as well (I have not checked all of them)

    Use CCleaners Registry cleaner to remove them as they are not linked to anything if they are listing in CCleaner, just choose the backup option in CCleaner when you remove them for safety (if PC works ok for a few days, delete the backup registry file)

    Thank you, Yes I recently removed Norton so I could reinstall AVG after my system recovery. I did however use the removal tool. Whatever! This computer is doing so many weird things all of a sudden I'm not surprised that they are there anyway. The system recovery got the computer to at least run again but it still shuts off whenever it feels like it. I was worried that I had removed something through cclean that affected it in some way but apparently not. Through all my research on my problem with system errors and shut downs, it looks like tons of people have the same exact problem with vista and there is no cure. So untill I can upgrade and do a clean install I'll have to deal with the other issues. Thanks for the registry info!!

    Sounds like a heat problem. Check your fans. You might have one that cuts out; when it does, the computer gets too hot and shuts down to protect the CPU.
