    Hi everyone,

I received this error message "MMC could not create the snap in" (for the Event Viewer). Trying to find an answer by searching that error message on-line provided a number of answers. However, some releated to renaming config files and other potential fixes I was not comfortable with without guidance.

I received this error message "MMC has detected an errror in and unloaded it" (for the Task Scheduler)

I created a new MMC Console but the same error messages appear when trying to insert the above into the new console. I don't know how to move it into the MMC anyway.

    Any help appreciated.

One of the fixes I saw was to enable Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5.1

You can at least check to see if it is turned on.

    Go to: Control Panel
    : Programs and Features

In the upper left corner click on

    :Turn Features On or Off

A box will load in the center of the screen showing which features on by a check mark in the select box beside the name of the feature.

If you're uneasy, just go look. You don't have to select anything while you're there.

To close, just click the red X close button.

    Hi Imandy,

I had already seen that and checked the Net Framework 3.51. I expanded the box and both boxes that show are checked.

    Hi Imandy,

I have run the SFC Checker and hopefully I will upload it correctly.

To add more confusion to this situation:

I expanded the Start globe and noticed that Task Manager was in it. I clicked on it and was brought to the task manager. Then I tried to use it I received a message saying Task Scheduler service is not available. Task Scheduler servicewill attempt to connect to it.

I waited about a minute and clicked on the message to close it. The same message appeared. I again waited and clicked on the message to close it. A different message appeared. This one read TaskDispatchRecoveryTasks: the Task Image is corrupt or has been tampered with.

I clicked on the message to dismiss it and I was taken to the Task Scheduler. However, I decided to determine if I had any functionality. I sellected create a basic task. I received this message: The Task Scheduler service is not available or the folder does not exist. Verify that the service is running and that the folder exists.

I am able to go to services through the run command (Windows key + r). I used services.msc. The Task Scheduler was started.

I was looking through the services list for Net Framework 3.5.1. It wasn't in that list. What was listed was NET Framework NETGN Version 2.0.50727 for both 32 and 64 bit and NET Framework Version 4.0.30319 for both 32 and 64 bit.

Shouldn't the 3.5.1 show unless I upgraded (which I don't remember) and the versions above are not compatible with the current software or has corrupted it.

After reading this (and it makes some small sense I think) take two asprins and relax the migraine will pass in several hours. :)

When you go to <All Programs> <Accessories> <System Tool> Task Scheduler, select 'create a basic task'.... use 'eventvwr' as the name. Set the time to a few minutes ahead, 1 day and the program name to 'eventvwr'.

Wait for the clock to roll around to the time set, and the event viewer should show up.
    Does this work?
    Remember to use 'eventvwr'

    Hi Eldon,

I'll have to pass on your suggestion.

I used it to supposedly repair my permissions. It amy have done so. However, I keep finding errors and problems. The mms problem being one.

I was planning to burn a cd for myself today. When I went to my music folder all the regular windows icons for wma amd mp3 files had been changed to album art images. Some of the file types had been changed to file rather than being wma or mp3. Just checking the file types and correcting them is going to be a nightmare. I have a fairly recent back -up of the music, bu I'll need to go through those one artist at a time and compare it to the artists I have now on the off chance I may have added a new artist since the backup.

Do you have any other suggestions ?

    Thanks

These new problems were not caused by Tweaking.com - Windows Repair.

You either have a severe system corruption or malware.
Which version of Widows are you using?
