MMC requires Internet Explorer 5.5 or greater to be installed?

"MMC requires Internet Explorer 5.5 or greater to be installed?" is the error i keep getting whenever i go to my device manager, services, or for that matter, anything under administrative tools within the control panel.. I think i got this error after I started having a "only the best" virus problem, Internet Explorer won't let me install IE 6, it says i have it already or a greater version of it. I am able to run Internet Explorer perfectly fine without any errors, besides not being able to look at my device manager or anything under administrative tools in the control panel.. Thank you for your help in advance.

 

You didn't list your OS. You can't be running WinXP or Win2k, since those both have MMC installed already. So I assume you're running Win9x in some form.

Open up Add/Remove Programs. Click the Windows Setup tab. Find Internet Tools and click the Details button. Uncheck Internet Explorer and click OK (you may need to reboot or insert your Windows CD). Afterwards, you can either run the IE6 setup program or reinstall IE be going back into Internet Tools --> Details and checking the Internet Explorer box and clicking OK.

What is the solution for this error message, if you don't want IE installed on your computer?

I have a computer for charity work, and I like to keep it totally free of outlook or any email, MS Office, or any mainstream MS programs... for security reasons, since MS code is the main gateway for hackers...
