I have a 3 month old new PC, and have had issues with failing USBB flash drives, see MG thread here.I have tried to use software to see mobo & chip details but am unsure..see my sig. I attach a screenshot of my sysem.

I also can't follow the Biostar website, which is confusing, when I enter the mobo, up comes a list of chips, and I don't which to enter, but the default that appears shows USB 2.0 software quite old, and doesn't quote Win7....worrying...see Biostar website here.

    Any advice appreciated.

In the BIOS setup of your motherboard is USB configuration under the ADVANCED section. See if changing any of those setting will help. Just write down what they currently are so you can change them back if needed.

just for kicks, have you tried this on all usb ports? is this only happening on the front ports, on the case, or is it also happening on the rear ports (directly on the mobo). make sure you aren't using any extension cables either. You might also want to install the chipset drivers listed on the site (if you haven't already)

btw, for a surefire way of identifying the motherboard model/version, visually check it and it should be printed directly on the board, or on some sticker on the board.

Hadn't tried rear ports before, don't know enough re setup or why they would be different.
Just tried it, and worked and fast....so whats the reason?
More improtantly, as i can't get access to the rear very easily, how do i fix?

Being only 3 months old, I would take it back to the place of purchase if possible and have them repair it. If you cannot take it back to the place of purchase, open the case and see if the front port it wired to the motherboard or became loose. Also, as a temporary fix, you could use a USB extension cable with a USB hub if you need more ports. This would get you easy access to the rear ports.
