I was putting in a new stick of ram, kingston 512 mb. First off, my power supply went. I got a new supply, and then plug it in and turned on my comp, and this loud buzzing went through my speakers and then my comp shut off. And then a smell of Death came out of my computer. Anyone know what the problem could have been? Bad stick of ram maybe?

Also, if I need a new MOBO, Which is most likely... What are some suggestions, anywhere from $100-$200...?

Was it the right kind of ram? I've heard about DDR ram going into PC133 slots and killing it (and vice versa).

As for a new mobo, I'd go with an Abit, but thats just me :) It all depends on what your components are like.
