    Having trouble starting her up.

Press the on Button and sometimes she starts ok, other times she makes all the noises, but nothing appears on screen.

I ahve to keep pressing the on (power) button until she comes on.

When she does actually come on the BIOS has changed the Processor speed from a XP1700+ to an XP1100

Pls Help - Its driving me mad

I am assuming "she makes all the noises" means you get the single "POST OK" beep, even though nothing shows up on the monitor. If you get a series of beeps, that's an error code.

Once the machine is up and running, does it reboot itself seemingly at random, without a blue screen or error message? That may be a sign of a damaged power supply (perhaps from a power surge).

Make sure that the motherboard's lithium battery is seated correctly. If the machine is less than 3 years old, it should not be dead. Also check to make sure that you don't accidentally have the clear CMOS jumper set.

Check to make sure that your video card is properly seated, and, if possible, try using a different video card altogether. Check and make sure that your RAM, CPU, and BIOS chip are all properly seated, especially if you power the machine on and off for every use.

At the moment, my primary suspect would be damaged motherboard, but the above are all things you should check before even thinking about that.

when you do start her up your BIOS will perform a POST (power on self test) on your components, have you noticed a large number of beeps. indicating a problem , are you getting a error message on your screen, at start up ,have you replace the motherboard to put a new one in ,checked ps wiring is fully in postion, ?

The PC is Just 1 year old. The Montior doesn't click on, when pc starts up, ie montior light stays blinking

Also when Processor speed changes in Cmos, date and time are ok

    Hmmmmm
Still the same after those checks.yes
cant be battery then as you,d be losing time
have you fitted any new hardware lately ?
try reseating all hardware, clean contact points with alochol based cleaner (isoprop)
um go to system information >problem devices....any ?
go to device manager any yellow quetion marks.... any components missing from list?
if you still got no luck try clearing the cmos using the jumper while unplugged then reset date, time and any other settings you have .
find your bios chip.... award, etc see if theres an update
    see links first though.
