I just got sbc and the 2wire networking modem which is supposed to have a firewal. Is this enough or should i connet my Microsoft router (which is about 1 year old - a B router for dsl cable) too? Would connecting it just be overkill or, in other words, be only a second layer of protection? I am also usure if doing this would slow down my internet speed.

I think the modem that you have, should be fine. Just make sure you have the firewall configured, AND if you want the extra layer of protection... just pickup some firewall software for your PC.

This may slow down internet connection a tad.. but if you have it configured properly, it shouldn't be much of a problem.

    PS-

If you do want to hook up the router, you could.. it shouldn't be a problem.. but i think it's a bit of an overkill and energy waste to have them both hooked up
