modem connection issues

I do an online MMORPG, Lord of the Rings. But I am having connection problums. I have recently moved to a new place about 3 months ago. I have a new ISP from where I previously lived, TWC (Time Warner Cable).
Since I have been connected with a ethernet line, cable modem, I cant connect with LOTRO game servers for no longer then a few seconds. A problum that I never had till now. I CAN connect thru wi-fi at other connections (like free access at McD's and such). So i got a wireless router for home, thinking it was an ethernet controller issue with the hardline. No such luck! I still have the same problum. I cant understand this issue! Tech support with my ISP (TWC) claims they are not blocking anything with my modem, but this is an obvious issue. My modem is a Linksys Netgear CGD24G. ANYONE, have an answer to advice to this problum?

 

My current connection runs at 20mps, sorry unsure of speed of my old connection, but i believe it was similar. Also i checked on the LOTRO forum sites and found out this speed (20mps) is plenty. I have downloaded and tried similar games (wow, everquest, and star trek online) and had NO problums at all. But the thing that puzzles me is I have a friend right down the street from me that has wi-fi and i have tried connecting at his house and I CAN get on and play with no problum what so ever! His ISP is with AT&T, same as my previous ISP. My local McDonalds has free wi-fi, which I can also connect with no issues, and has a different ISP as mine. So can it be assumed that Time Warner Cable is my problum? I have spoke with thier tech support and they say they do not block connections. So I'm not sure how to approach this. I have invested money, and have many online friends in this game over the couple of years i've played and just giving it up so easily is a hard move to make.
