Modem takes a long time to Connect to Net.

I have just recently started having a problem connecting to the Net with my Modem.

It takes ages to connect or does not do at all sometimes.
When i run Windows Internet Troubleshooter it says the following:

Local Area Connection 2 doesn't have a valid IP Connection - Not Fixed.

In Device Manger i have:

NVIDIA nForce Networking Controller
NVIDIA nForce Networking Controller#2

There are no Yellow Flags against them when i click the properties Windows says they working properly.

I am running Windows 64 Ultimate. The Modem is a D-Link DSL 2640b

Need more information. Who is your ISP. What do you mean by the modem takes a long time to connect. I am going to take a wild guess here. I am thinking that you are shutting the power off to it, or taking it with you to various locations.

 

I switch the Modem off at then the end of they day when i finnish stuff on the PC and shut it down.

Now, when i switch the Modem on after booting up the PC it takes a long time for it to connect to my ISP which is Plusnet. It has only just started doing this this past week.

 

You never want to shut the modem off at the end of the day. That is why you are having a long time connecting. Plusnet's system is seeing that your modem is offline, so the system does not even see it.

You need to leave the modem on 24/7, or you will always have this issue. At some point when Plusnet's engineers do an audit and do not see the MAC ID of the modem active for a long period, they will remove it from their system.

Then you have to call in and play the shuffle game to get your modem back online with them. They can also charge you for this.
