Hello, First post here and im asking for help which I know is very rude but im really frazzled right now so please forgive me.

I have a A7nx8, amd 3200+, 1g ram, ATI radeon 9800 pro256 vid card and Raid 0 maxtor 160's on windows xp pro

I have had this computer almost 2 years now, consistently running CS, BF, Mohaa, COD, and other games for me.

About a week ago I was playing mohaa and about 4 minutes into the game it just crashed back to the desktop with no error. As I continued to play this occured over and over again after about 4 minutes of gameplay.

I then Repaired my installation of the game: no help
I uninstalled the game, deleted registry keys, and fully reinstalled: no help
    I reinstalled direct x 9: no help
I Unistalled catalyst and reinstalled it: no help
I screwed around with Mohaa's video settings (i had run them all the way up since i had the computer): no help

This was really starting to confuse me....

I had a geforce 5600 ultra 256 in a linux computer that i dont really use (mismatch, yeah i know) so i swapped my radeon for the geforce.

Unistalled catalyst, turned off, hardware swap, reboot, and install the drivers that came on the cd about 6 months ago.

This didnt change anything, it still crashed for me.

I updated the drivers to the latest varified drivers: No help
I unistalled and reinstalled the game agian: no help
I reinstalled direct x 9 again: no help
I made sure my windows was up to date: no help

I was now out of clues, and this computer being just a game computer with out anything of great importance, i decided to reformat and start fresh.

After backing up my documents on another computer, I shut down and reformatted with maxtor maxblast 6. I went from having 4 partitions at 60g a piece to 2 partitons at 122g a piece.

I reinstalled windows xp pro, installed the motherboard, sound card, and network card drivers, installed the latest nvidia drivers for the video card, installed teamspeak2, xfire, ASE, and mohaa.

    THE GAME CRASHED STILL!

Now I am really clueless. I went back and reinstalled the game again, which didnt help any.

I installed beta nvidia drivers (78.11) and that didnt help

I also tried running the game in compatability mode for windows 2000, windows nt sp5, and windows 98, none of which helped any.

After searching google for any answers or help and trying all that stuff, I am now at a standstill and still clueless as to what could be causing this problem.

any help would be greatly apprecieated.

    Thanks, Chris.

ah, sounds familiar.... I had the same EXACT thing happen to me when i played Battlefield 2.... I had my computer OVERCLOCKED, which made it run too hot, so it shut down the game, or if i played another game all day and got it really hot, my comp restarted...

There are a few things you can do... since your comps 2 years old, its probably dusty inside. Go get a can of compressed air, spray the insides out (especially your CPU heatsink) and then invest in some case fans (1-2 intake in front, 1-2 exhaust in back) this will get the air flowing in your case so things dont get too hot... also it could be you CD but i doubt it...

Download this program : Motherboard Monitor 5 which is from this site... Install and setup, run your computer at idle for about 30 minutes (leave your comp and come back) and tell us your temps (BEFORE USING a can of compressed air, just to make sure you do/dont need it) and to see if you need any case fans...

Ok I just ran to wally world and picked up a new copy of the game for 10 bucks...

Yeah i know about the dust, I have a hard time remembering to do that. Whenever I crack the case though i always make sure i do it. I have an air compressor downstairs that i use to do it, so i know everything in there is pretty dust free.

ASUS probe and the nivdia drivers tell me that

    CPU 66 C
    Mobo 29 C
    GPU 55 C

    all good..

My case is a lianli with 2 intake on the front through a dust filter, and 2 exhaust one on the back and one on the top (all 80mm). The PS also has 2 8mm fans blowing out, and i took out one slot in the back to let air in/out.

Im going to reinstall the game fresh with this new copy of mohaa, Thanks for the suggestions, reminded me to check the temps and for dust. Found a bunch of dust on my desk, sure that will make me healthier if not my computer as well
