Moniter is wired

I've had this problem for a couple weeks now. Once in awhile at random my screen just gets darker, but its only in the middle and it fades left and right. So the far left and far right of my computer screen is fine. but the center is darkened. I can still see but its dark, get really annoying some times. Before i used to shut off the monitor and turn it back on, and it would go away but doesnt work anymore. I've tried kicking it around a little but that didnt work either. please help.

Have you tried the "Degauss" option on your monitor?

 

yup tried that didnt do anything.

 

Well it could be your monitor starting to go. Have you checked the monitor cord and made sure it is connected tightly to the vga card?

 

its not that either, sometimes the monitor flickers back to normal but for like a sec. then back to dim again.

 

Sounds like your monitor is about ready to go out. Flickering is a pretty good indicator of that. Also, if you are noticing dark areas on the monitor, that is another good indication that it will soon go out.

 

Right now its fine.

It doesnt really flicker, thats only when i hit it. What it is, is this like dark line down the center of my monitor and it fades to the sides. I can still see thru it but it just makes things darker in the middle. Its not that old, maybe liike 4 years old. 17'flat screen CRT Envision(cheap brand). I dont know i hope it stays like this, but just wondering if its happened to anyone else?

well its doing it again, i think iam just gonna get a new one. Those anyone know were i can get a cheap one, maybe online. I've looked online but the shipping cost is like 35$.

yeh looks like its had better days,there isnt really much you can do above a degause,I would advise you try it with a different videocard just rule that out or computer.

When buying new monitor shipping is always a problem,especially with heavy crt monitors,if you have to return it,that shipping also comes out of your pocket,it might be better for you to buy locally if you are on a tight budget
