    Heyas!

I went out and bought another computer yesterday so a family member could play Everquest together. I had yet to buy the monitor that we were going to us for it, so when I got home I unhooked the monitor to my PC and hooked it up to the new PC just to get it all set up and as much downloading done as possible.
It was getting late so I decided to hook the monitor back to my PC so I could check emails, message boards, etc before I crashed for the night. Now my PC doesnt work right. I cant get the monitor to stay on. It goes into standby mode not long after showing the first XP screens etc. Its not the monitor, because I hooked up an another monitor and it does the same thing.

I only things I did was unhook the monitor to use on new PC during setup and perhaps the power to the whole area got shut down a few times while we moved power cords, etc around.
Also unplugged sound and plugged it into the new PC during setup because new PC didnt come with speakers. Also I unplugged the mouse and keyboards to get those out of our way during setup up of new PC. Nothing major!

Now like I said, everything is plugged back into my old PC like it was before. Power to PC and monitor gets turned on and monitor will show the first few XP screens and at the same spot when the screen is black while loading or whatever its doing, the monitor will go into standby mode. The bright yellowish-green light on the front on the monitor changes to its dull green/yellow standby color. Like I said, its not the monitor, because its doing the same to my other monitor.

What has happened to my PC? What should I do?

    Thanks

Nevermind guys.....I figured it out I think. :)

I took out my upgraded video card and plugged monitor into the built in graphics card and it worked. So I guess upgraded graphics card is fried?

When you did this unplugging and re-plugging of the devices and power chords...was the system powered down or was it still on?? You should always power down the system before you plug or unplug anything for any reason, aside from you USB items, like a digital camera or pen drive or something like that. But whenever you unplug a monitor, keyboard, or a mouse...always turn off the computer first!!!!
