So i just got my new pc today and it came without a monitor i had bought the monitor separate from where i git my pc. So i hooked everything up and when ever i turned on the monitor while the pc was on it would say power saving mode then a black screen and i waited and after 5 min it stayed a black screen i had the install disk already in the pc so it should have worked i triple checked the connections and made sure the cord connecting the monitor and the pc is right and tight. :major

with the pc being shipped/moved it might be worth pulling the side off the case/tower and checking everything is still slotted in properly something might have worked itself loose like the graphics card for example

other than that switch the monitor on first then switch the pc on and see if you can see it boot up to windows
if that happens and then the monitor goes black and into standby it could be a resolution / sync problem
you would need to press f8 at boot time and choose vga mode from the menu
once it gets into windows set the resolution to the native resolution of your monitor taking care that the refresh rate is not set higher than you monitor can cope with
