We have found that our son knows how to delete history of web pages visited in Mozilla Firefox. We remain open to suggestions on programs such as IAmBigBrothter that will enable us to monitor activities, but for more immediate, is there a way to retrieve the deleted history of web pages visited. I checked the recycle bin, not there.

Well, you could use data recovery programs, but you'll find them very difficult and time consuming to use. It won't be worth it to recover browser history unless you want to speed a few hours every time you want to look it up, and even then it would be hit and miss on if you could recover it.

As for spying programs, I don't really know. Most of them are amazingly simply for kids to get around. Generally speaking, if your son is over 10 odds are if he wants to hide where he's browsing he's capable of doing it.I've never really seen any that work besides from in the coporate world, and those only work because access can be limited much more then on a home computer which is going to be pretty open no matter what you do, unless you start installing coporate applications.

If he is not deleting the cookies, you could look through them, that should give you a general idea. There should be cache files too, unless those got deleted also.

My guess is if he is covering his browsing tracks, he is also deleting the cookies and files.

Do you have any idea why he's covering his tracks? Have you talked to him about it? I don't mean to insult your parenting skills (these are not my intentions at all), but before you decided to get a program to monitor what your kids is doing, maybe you should do some monitoring of your own. Be up front with him, confront him about it. Don't beat around the bush when you could just get to the heart of the matter.

i dont know about mozilla firefox but i believe on ie theres a way to grey out (make them unclickable) the delete files, clear history, and that other box that i forgot. it probably involves changing the registry so its probably not a good idea.

the keylogger would probably be a good choice because they are usually undetectable. if you do choose the keylogger im guessing it will probably put what he types in a txt log file so just open it and press ctrl-f and search for any suspicous words....porn.

Do you have a firewall? If so, take a look at the log of the firewall to what sites have been visited.
