    Here is my issue:

I just purchased a new HD monitor (ASUS VH323H) and cannot get it to connect to the HDMI monitor output on the top back side of my computer. The power to the monitor is on and the correct input mode (HDMI) is selected. The monitor DOES work when connected to the HDMI external device port (or DVI external device port) at the bottom back side of my computer. I always use that bottom external device port for my HD television with success. Basically I am looking for the convenience of not having to constantly switch between the television and monitor by having the tv plugged in the external device bottom HDMI port and getting the monitor to respond to the top back side HDMI monitor port.

    Any advice would be appreciated.

Double-check that your video and graphics drivers are all installed and up-to-date.

I had this issue once on a setup; it appeared there was an additional HDMI driver required. Once I downloaded/installed it on the PC the HDMI connection worked.

    Hope this helps. :)
