Monitor Dims For A Few Seconds Periodically

I would like to reset my monitor to factory default settings. The reason that I am interested in doing this is because sometimes my monitor dims for a few seconds. It dims at certain times like (1) when I am booting up the computer, the HP Logo dims and the Linux Mint logo dims (each of these show individually at certain times during the boot process); and (2) when I am browsing some web pages with Brave. The only thing that I can say about the pattern is that maybe it happens when the screen has a lot of black on it (maybe many pixels are not lit up at all).

I am also using software called Redshift that filters blue light. However, this software should not be active during the boot process because I think it loads as part of "startup" in the operating system. (I mentioned earlier that there is some dimming during the boot process.)

I am not too sure what to do on the troubleshooting front but I figure that resetting the monitor probably wont hurt.

I do see an option on the monitor to reset. I get to the point of having "yes" selected under "reset." But, I don't know how to "execute" the choice. When I screen shot the monitor's menu, the screen shot does not capture the monitor's menu. It catches only what's behind that menu (what would be displayed if the menu was not there).

When you select Yes under Reset the monitor will automatically reset.
    What OS are you using?

I don't see how a monitor reset is going to do anything for this, unless, maybe, your monitor supports some sort of auto-dimming feature that is acting up and needs resetting (or disabled). But it won't hurt to try.

I recommend swapping monitors with another computer to see if the problem moves to the 2nd computer, or stays. At this point, you don't know if the problem is with the monitor, or the graphics solution (card or integrated).

If you don't have another computer (or another monitor to try on this computer) most TVs made in recent years support computer input.

So you are saying that when I have the "yes" option selected, that will reset it? I was expecting to have to press the equivalent of "enter." Thanks.

    Linux Mint 19.1 Cinnamon.

The dimming for a few seconds hasn't happened today. I'll have to see if it returns.
