I have an ati radeon x800 xl, on a nice computer ( gig of ram 3.0 p4 HT), but my monitor is absolutely terrible, infact I got it for 100 dollars brand new, (because it was huge), it's called and EPI envision and is extremely blurry. My question is would this cause a loss in fps or performance ffrom my card, or would it damage it?

The blurriness really shouldnt affect FPS at all. You would get the same FPS on a £1000 monitor since its the power of your GFX card and CPU that determine your FPS. I can't see how a monitor would affect your hardware since I'm sure that the GFX card sends power rather than receives it.

As for the blurriness ... I have kind of the same problem in the centre of my screen where the screen goes slightly blurry. I've found that the lower your resolution the more crisp picture you can get with it. I'm currently at 1280X1024 and its holding up well, my monitor is capable of 1600x1200 but its worthless using it. Also try turning your contrast down and brightness up since this can improve image quality.

Since you have a good computer its probably a good thing to pick up a new monitor, after all, whats the point in ploughing money into expensive hardware when you're using a crappy monitor at the end of it all? You can get them pretty cheap now, I intend to get a new one soon myself. I got one of these the other day for the missus http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/ProductInfo.asp?WebProductID=39263 and the image quality is superb, even though its relatively cheap. Problem is I have no idea how much it's equated to in $ or where you would get one from :)
