Monitor Flickered On Startup, Now Black Until Warms Up

I did a clean install of my Win7 pro 64x a few weeks ago and after that the monitor started flickering whenever I started the computer. It would usually even out at the splash screen. Now it stays black for several minutes. It seems to need to warm up. The monitor is a Samsung TFT-LCD Monitor BN59-00521H.

Do you think there is any connection to this happening following a clean install of the OS? Do you think it is some part going bad which might not be worth fixing? Is there any way to test it?

It could be driver errors that need reinstalling or updating. It could be a monitor going bad. If you have access to another monitor, test that.

Could be hardware. A something warms up a connection is made and the screen turns on.

Someone I know tested a tv by using a hairdryer on low. He blows the hairdryer in the vents on the back of the tv. When he warms it up, he has a picture. He determined that a resistor needed replacing.

You could try a hairdryer to see if it turns on faster.

I agree with Max. The first thing you need to do is try another monitor and see if it happens there too. If it does, you know it is the computer, not your monitor. If you don't have a 2nd monitor, note that most modern TVs support computer input too.

Do make sure all cables are securely fastened. And if a graphics card, make sure it is securely inserted and fastened in its slot.
