Recently my monitor started humming at a very high pitch whenever I'm displaying any bright (white) pages. Any idea what could be causing this? It's a very old (4+ years?) Envision EPIA790 and my PC card is an Nvidia 7800 GT. The humming is a recent development and appears to be getting worse over time. Any suggestions would be great.

Sounds like your monitor is on it's way out sadly. Might be time to invest in a new one.

You might try playing with the refresh rate and resolution settings - I've had monitors do that at times when using settings at the edge of their design limits; also once it occured when playing a certain game (I don't now recall the name).

Overclocking your video card can cause high-pitched hums, but the sound comes from the card itself, in my experience.

mcadam is right - it does sound like your monitor is headed south . . .

I figured so, but I'm just too damn cheap to admit it :p I'd definitely like a flat panel one so i have more room on my desk....I'll try your suggestions, but if it doesn't work I'll be back here for advice on what to purchase! Thanks guys.
