Monitor Issues

OK. So I am setting up my parents pc for them. They have an xp system restore cd I am using no prob. Thing is, the tower doesn't seem to recognize the monitor. I can't get the screen rez to go pass 800 by 600 and I can't ajust the colors further then low (8bit)

This monitor is a Packard Bell 2160 model

I've tried doing the troubleshooting to instal the driver for it. But all the directions I follow get me know where. I get either grayed out buttons so that I can't roll back or up date the driver. And I am having no luck with finding a driver for this monitor on the net manually and if I do the thing where it searches itself, I still get no luck. I'm lost here, and stuck. My parents are getting up there in age, and I really want this fixed for them lol.

What should I do?

 

Have you installed the video drivers for your card yet?

 

BTW, if you don't know what video you have, run Everest and it will give all that you need to know.

 

Ok, So I downloaded the Everest thing.

Under Display I get

Video Adapter Intel Extreme Graphics
3d Accelerator Intel Extreme Graphics

Does that tell you anything?

Everest should tell you what motherboard model# you have as that's the key as you seem to have onboard graphics.

 

Ok. I went to the Hp site and downloaded the driver I needed. Ty for all the help
