    Hi there...

I'm having a very frustrating problem here which is (literally) giving me a headache...

Suddenly my monitor makes everything appear "fuzzy." Not just the "fonts" - everything appears fuzzy (desktop icons, pictures, everything) while viewing websites or programs. As soon as I start up the computer it remains this way, as well. I tried rebooting several times and then shutting down the computer for a few hours and starting it again, but the problem persists.

Here is the information about the monitor that I retrieved using the Belarc Advisor:

    Display

    IBM P260 Monitor (19.7" visible)
Intel(R) 82915G/GV/910GL Express Chipset Family [Display adapter]

Note: I currently have all of the latest Microsoft Windows updates and the operating system is Windows XP Home Edition (build 2600). Service Pack 2 installed.

Any help here would be greatly appreciated. :)

The magnetic plates that guide the electron on its path to the screen are prone to magnetic fields, and can lose calibration. This can often be corrected by degaussing the monitor. The function (built right into most monitors) is often represented by this symbol:

If that doesn't help, check that there are no strong electric motors placed near the monitor. (ie. fans, vacuum cleaners, electric pencil sharpeners)

As a troubleshooting step, you could also try unplugging all devices on the same circuit (or move the monitor's plug to its own circuit)

 Hi. You could also have a power supply problem inside the monitor. Connecting another monitor (a known good one, one that you observe to operate correctly on another pc first) to your pc will verify whether the problem
is in the monitor or in your pc. Nowadays, CRT monitors are getting to be so cheap that replacement is almost always more cost-effective than repair. It would be a good excuse to upgrade to a flat panel unit. Good night and good luck.

Thank you both so much for your replies!

Mada_Milty's solution did the trick and the monitor seems to have resolved the problem (at least for now!)...

Thanks again, Mada_Milty and sl00py99 for helping me with this annoying problem!

    Good Luck!
