Hey guys, I have a problem. I have been using the vga connection on my hdtv as the main monitor settings for over a year. it was plugged into my computer through a dvi port (with correct adapter). I opened the Nvidia control panel on my computer and frankly I don't even know what I did but I was fiddling with the aspect ratios and now this tv is saying "not supported". I don't know how to get the settings back to the way they were. I've tried using the safe mode but whatever ratio settings I input during safe mode don't transfer to normal mode when i restart and the nvidia control can't be accessed in safe mode. I didn't have this much problem when I hooked it up the first time but now it isn't functioning. I have an Nvidia geforce 7950 gt and running windows Xp, I have already tried using a system restore point but it just doesn't work (presumably cause it only restores windows settings. I'm not sure what to do. Any help would be appreciated.

You might have to try to Force Verify the TV

Go into your Nvidia Control Panel then Display then down in Set up multiple displays

Then on the right look for the ? mark under the monitor pictures then click on My display is not shown in the list.

Then another display will pop up called Detect missing Display run the Rigorous Display Detection

Then if that don't work try the Force Television

How do i get to that if I can't see anything on my display in normal mode, and can't access the Nvidia control while in safe mode? I only get display during safe mode, otherwise it just says not supported.

Best idea is to uninstall the Nvidia then try a reinstall then do them settings.Do a Fresh install of the Nvidia Driver.

Not sure if this will work but press F8 to get to your safe mode menu. Select Enable VGA mode.

I would use System Restore and go back to before you made the first change.

Thank you guys for your help. I was able to solve the problem through a clean install of the Nvidia driver. Fixed everything. Thanks again.
