My monitor blacks out, I mean it Just goes black for about two seconds then comes back on again. It does this when I am using my music recording software and I have an audio wave playing and I select my virtual mixer or any other plug-in I want to use and move it around with my mouse. The screen will just turn off and then back on. But not the light on the monitor, it stays on. If I am recording and the monitor shuts off and then back on it does not affect my recording. The audio I recorded is fine. I do not believe this is a heat problem because this will happen right after I start my computer and try it. I have tried replacing my graphics card with one that is new, it made no difference. I also tried running a few RAM tests from an ultimate boot CD that a friend turned me on to, and passed all those tests. I am not very computer savvy but I do know how to reload my OS and have built two computers. But this is freaking me out. My monitor is working fine. I have two boxes on a KLM switch, and my monitor works fine on my other computer. I am running windows XP Pro with service pack two on a Athlon 2800 with 512 megs of RAM. My video card is an NVIDIA 5200. If somebody could help me I would appreciate it greatly.

Yes I've got a new driver. The version you talked about. I can't figure out what's up.

Is their any updates to the music software you use?

It also may not be a fault, I have seen it when some software cannot handle the resolution you have set for your desktop, so said software will change your resolution for one it can handle, as you say it doesnt seem to affect anything. ( sort of like when you change screen resolution, my monitor goes black then comes back after a few seconds )

I would confidently rule out heat as an issue as you said it would happen more when your PC has been on a while and heat has been generated, I would also expect if it was something reseting for the lON light on your monitor to go off or to standby then come back on.

If its a software error, you may also see some reference to it in the Event Viewer Logs ( Control Panel > Administrative tools > Event Viewer > System or Applications logs ) at the time of the event.

Whats the music recording software your using, just so if I come across an explanation I can pass it on, also what screen resolution are you using?
