I use a HP computer using Vista and my monitor is a Samsung SyncMaster 913v which i think is 19 inch screen.

My problem is it suddenly stopped responding last night went black and has a box floating around saying "not optimum mode. Recommended Mode 1280 x 1024" i think.

Now windows wont load the screen menu allows me to look but not change and it shows the resolution at 640x480.

So now i have vista that cannot do the start up and a monitor that cannot show and unable to use either as when i try even to repair or start in safe mode the monitor just goes black.

I have had to come to a friends to ask for help as i have no idea what to try.

Any help i can get would be appreciated.

You could try borrowing a monitor to change your resolution to the "recommended" settings, or better yet 1024 x 768. Then, shut down and attach your monitor, then boot the machine.

    It may work, may not.
