Depends on your needs. But for me, I much prefer a monitor (two monitors, actually).

TVs usually don't have as many display resolutions as a monitor - unless it is 4k, maybe? I have used a TV and went back to a monitor.

Note sure how that matters since we are still talking about LCD displays (assuming it is not a plasma TV). And LCDs, regardless if monitor or TV all have a "native" resolution - a single resolution where the display is optimized for that size and dimension (height and width ratio) monitor.

The main problem with using a TV as a computer monitor is response times. TVs are made to view prerecorded content - content typically recorded at 24 or 30FPS. And TVs are not sitting there waiting for user input. Monitors are designed to display much faster frame rates.

That said, there are exceptions on both sides. Some current TVs have "game modes" that disables processing and accelerates response times. And some monitors are best suited for Office tasks.

Bottom line - define your needs, do your homework and research before plopping down your money.

How it matters is some if you want to change the resolution 1920 or higher and other resolutions look skewed, text on icons got blurry, like I said I used a LCD TV for a while. If you've not tried it you don't know what I'm talking about. The LCD TV I used only looked good at an odd resolution like 1152 x 864. Moral of the story get a monitor.

I understand that some users want to change the resolution. My point is that does not matter. LCD displays (regardless if in a monitor or a TV) have a ("a", as in just one) "native" resolution where the displayed image looks best.

Agreed. Well, I can't live with just one monitor. So get two monitors! ;)
