It takes forever to turn on, dont' know if it's sometimes never or I just get too impatient & shut the computer off & start over.
    We have XP
The indicator light on the monitor blinks... and blinks.... and blinks...fi I ever get it on of course then it stays green. Sometimes when we shut the computer off the yellow 'off' light comes on, sometimes it just blinks green.
So is this really a monitor problem, or a computer problem??
    What does the blinking indicate?
the monitor is a KDS flat screen.
Could I have inadvertently pressed the wrong button underneath when turning off the screen?
Also I am assuming it's bad for the computer to just leave it on all the time? I hate to do that.
    Thank you.

Well it could be either,do you have another computer to test the functionality of the monitor and do you have an old crt or LCD you can use to test your computer?

Has this problem always been there?Could you describe the problem in a little more detail also, you turn on the computer, the fans spin, the hard drive light blinks and makes noises like windows is loading but your monitor just doesn't turn on is this correct?

When your monitor doesn't turn on at all does your computer stops making noises like its loading windows or does it turn itself off?

Could you give a little more info about your computer, the make and model plus basically anything else you know about it.

The yellow light on the monitor shows it is still powered on but is not getting a video signal (from the computer). The screen is black after some sort of "no signal" message, usually.

The green light shows both power and video signal.

You can power off a monitor and still have the computer turned on. If done properly there will be no light (steady or blinking) showing on the monitor and of course the screen is black.

The computer stays on, & now I'm pretty sure it's the monitor, because I shut the monitor off last night because i didn't want to shut the computer off (I need it very dark to sleep) and it blinked at me (green blinking) when I turned it on this morning. Turned on after a few minutes. Not too annoying.

I forgot to mention this is what happened the last time it got infected with malware. The malware is gone as far as I know (& yes I did run a full scan when the monitor started making me PO), but I remember last time after we wiped the drive the monitor came right on like it was supposed to. Wiping the hard drive isn't an option right now, though.
    Thanks.
