monitor problem

    My monitor HD15 cable just recently stopped working. When I plug it into my graphics card all I get is a blank screen, but when I unplug it I get a floating message on the screen saying for me to check the cables...
    I know that the problem lies not within my graphics card as I had the same problem connecting my monitor to my xbox 360.
    So, I'm guessing that it is a problem with the cable and not the monitor itself...has anyone had this problem? Does anyone know what I should do to fix this?
