monitor res

hey guys,

i have a rreally small montior 15 inch. Also my cousin has an older monitor which is 14 inch.

For some reason he can go over 2000x1000 on that 14 inch, but my monitor wont let me. I have it set on, display all resulutions, and whn i swtich it to anything higher than 1024x800 it goes black. Any way to force my monitor in to high stuff? i wonder why his would go higher but mine wouldnt...

 

well, first, i'm giong to assume you're "rounding" with the resolution.

anyway, his monitor probably has a way to dither the image so it'll fit. even though the monitor doesn't have that many pixels, it will go that high. yours doesn't dither, so the max res is just that: a max res.

hypothesis #2: his video card dithers... which is kinda weird, really.

dunno for sure; all these are just possible explanation

 

I cant comment on what his monitor is doing @Id be suprised if it actually is and the whole desktop fits on the screen but the resolution you have is the average for most 15inch monitors without damaging your eyes with a low refresh rate,if you check your display properties it will tell you what you can support,choose the highest resolution with a refresh rate no lower than 85hz.

 

well my video card is pretty nifty pretty sure its not that

but my monitor now only lets me go to 1280 x 800. I need it to go 1280x 1024..

any help on forcing it? i have mag view VM500E

 

so what can i do? to force it?
