    Hi
Last night when I came out of stand-by mode the center of my screen was blurry. I was using 1024x768 resolution. I changed it to 1152x1864 and it was a little better… but still blurry. When I reduce the size of a window and move it to edge of the screen it shrinks a bit and gets better focused. It is like the middle of the screen is being stretched. I tried adjusting it manually... nothing works. The other notable thing is that recently I have notice a wobble when I’m online or playing a game. It hasn’t happen often. If I just need a new monitor that’s fine… I would just hate to buy a new one and have the problem be something else. My monitor is a Gateway EV700 17” (not a flat screen).

Any help would be greatly appreciated,
    Elizabeth

    Howdy,
    I have three suggestions:
    1. Try degaussing your monitor, and resetting it back to "facotry settings."
    2. The wobble could be caused by a close by set of speakers, a TV, or something else that creates a magnetic field. Try moving these things away from the monitor. (This is probably not the the cause of the wobbling problem if it only happens when you are online. Are you also online when this happens in a game?)
    3. If possible try the monitor on another computer.
P.S.- How close is your monitor to the computer?

Thanks for your prompt reply. I tried degaussing and resetting the defaults (I think I did that correctly). The wobble happens more offline than online. The only speakers near the monitor are the little ones that came with the system. They have been where they are for years but I’ll move them. The computer is about 4 feet from the monitor. I have not tried the monitor on another computer… I don’t have another one nearby, but that is a good idea to try before I buy another one. If you have any other suggestions, please let me know.

    Thank You,
    Elizabeth

The only thing I can think of is that the monitor might be going bad. Have you tried unplugging it, and is the screen blurry before windows loads? I will have to ask a few of my friends on what they think.
