    Ok I am back

After halo much needed help with my ati driver problem i know have come back with a new problem that i hope you masses can help

for 1 week now when i load up my monitor keeps flicking off and on and even when i managed to get windows to load it does it and nothing wil stop it. it flicks on for 1 sec and off for 3 and rotating.

only way i am able to use my pc is to load up in safe mode. wait in irregular interval each time to stop and then when it seems ok do a restart and not shut down then it restarts fine with monitor staying on. it is still going dark with it on and needs me to switch off manually an dthen back on to be ok though.

it also flashes analog when each time it works ok. i cant even get the monitir to chose digital as it reverts back to analog.

Is it my new card sending out wrong info to monitor? Bios? if i revert also to apast system restore all is ok until i reload up again next day or laster that day.

    Thanks Guys

    Anyone help?

i get the problem now even after safe mode. I have to wait a random number of times loading up for it to work in safe mode now then restart.

first thing i would do is check if all cables are securely connected, if all secure, check to make sure video card is properly connected and not loose.

the other thing i would check is if you are running the latest video drivers for your card

Yep everything is o as now after i reboot when power light stays on everything is fine.

it never starts up properly and the monitor after a full shut down will go through this problem.

so far to get my monitor to work seems i have t wait a random number of full reboots in safe mode for my monitor to then stop flashing on and end with the light on but black screen, i then have to manually swtich on and off several times for it to either stay working fine or go quickly go through the monitor settings on the buttons on the monitor and quickly get to input settings and confirm analog (even though already highlighted) to get working fine. then i have to to a restart to normal to work. if i shut down then i get same problem over again.

i recently updates my pc drivers overall when updateing graphics card as i had the ati2dvgi bug thing (which is now sorted). so drivers are all up to date. i noticed this first happen after an automatic windows update! but dont know if its the cause as a smart restore to the previous date still keeps on with the same problem.

note the monitor flashes so quickly when in the cycle that its impossible to get the monitor settings up in time.

    thanks

    Hi

What type of monitor is this a CRT or LCD, and if possible whats the make and model?

If you can borrow a monitor to try that would rule out the monitor as the issue or something else in the PC, or even try the monitor on a friends PC. I Know checking the connections has been mentioned but also try a spare monitor cable if you have one.

    Hi halo

its lcd viewsonic vx715 since it works now but not on first bootup it cant be the monitor so it must be something i think that the pc is maybe telling the monitor?

since its only ok after safe mode

i keep thinking its something the pc is telling the monitor?

is there any things in bios to check and how do i get to bios?

once the monitor works its fine until i switch off

If everything works fine after safemode is it worth still checking cables? as the problem would lay either on boot up or shut down or power regs?

or driver maybe or indeed bios

thinsg that will effect input to monitor or vice versa, apart from cables as if cable then i would assume it would not work now or be intermitant?

    thanks

    Hi,

I'm going to defer to Halo. My question to Halo is from jaruler's everest report doesn't it look like the AGP port is empty? It think you guys decided to not disable onboard Intel video in Device Manager would disabling now cause any further problems or could it help troubleshoot?

Jaruler, I just noticed that report is about a month old could you upload a new one? I just like to see if they are the same. :)

i will upload a new one later chaps and so sorry for not getting back as i am still having the problem.

its strange that it works fine after safe mode, and loads up the login screen which after a while the screen goes black. But light on, i have to manually switch off the monitor 3 times to get it to then work and the screen to not go black. if it stays fine then i just do a restart the login screen still, as the light stays on throughout and its then fine. It seems to need to be set to analog to be fine.

    thanks

    here guys
i removed th eprinter stuff to fit under 250 also

    thanks

took my over 20 restarts this time as safe mode is also now not working to resolve amd if the machine is off and powered off with no current goingthrough then the monitor wil still keep flashing on and off now. thsi is when it has not restarted normally after safe mode.

    thanks

    halo?

at the moment also now i cant even do anything as my pc now also restarts its self by automatic reboot. even through safe mode. the only thing that stops it is by chosing debugging mode , but restarting after does same thing so cant get the monitor to work to try and resolve why.

why would it load up fine through debuging mode only (shown on options with safe mode) i have tried every other type of load up and all fail and keeps rebooting before the windows login screen.

have doen many system restores, done bios reset defaults also. All this with still the monitor only viewable for 1 sec out of cycle 6 secs when the monitor itself switches on and off still

also it might be worth noting when i had my previous card in on devices it showed up 2 times. the 2nd one was noted as secondary with properties options being a bit different to the first. The card now on board does not have it as a secondary also. but mentions the onboard thingny

    thanks
