    Okay, I use a HP pavilion zd7000 I was curious so i had my monitor hooked up to it and set it up for multiple monitors just to see if it would work.

    It worked or whatever, So I unhooked the monitor nd never used it again..A few days later I decided to play some World of Warcraft.

    And whenever I goto exit the main laptop screen just goes blank like its in hibernation (note: i dont have the external monitor hooked up), So i had to hard reboot it and decided to play it again to make sure it was just a random crash, and sure enough it did it again.

    At the time I wasn't sure what happend and figured whatever its an old laptop or whatever it wont be a problem, One time it happend and when i went to reboot it wouldnt even show the windows loading screen or anything.

    So after hours of frustration I hooked up my external monitor and sure enough that works, But after fiddling with the settings and failing to fix the main screen I turned it off and decided to leave it alone.

    A little while later I turned it on with the external monitor plugged in and the main screen worked, I went under my settings and apparently my laptop has mistaken the external monitor as the main(1) screen and the built in one as the off screen(2).

    So after all my rambling how can I get the built in laptop screen as my primary and only screen? Thanks and Sorry for the read.

    Hook up the external display.

    If you use XP:
    Right click on your windows desktop and choose Properties. Then go to Settings (the right most tab). Click on the picture of the monitor labelled 2 (or the one representing your laptop monitor) and make sure the "Extend my Windows Desktop onto this monitor" is selected. Then there should be a check box above it entitled "Use this monitor as my primary display". Check this. This should fix your problem.

    If you use Vista;
    Check with someone else as I am unsure how to accomplish this.
