Hi, my PC is connected to a LAN (I live in a dorm and we share a common internet connection).

Recently, my drive C has been illegally accessed by someone, and I've already made the adjustments.

However, because of that incident, I'd like to keep track now of who's accessing my files from the LAN, and what specific files they are accessing, or trying to.

Any software that will do this job?

    Thanks.

i believe there are some in "Monitoring" and "Admin Tools" section of major geek's main page.
But if you're looking to track down the hacker, these software might not be enough.
Have you first try looking in your event logs?

Auditing capabilites are included with Windows XP. Built into the system. Click on Start - Run and then type in gpedit.msc. When this opens, you can set auditing for your computer or user accounts. For more infor, see http://www.microsoft.com/resources/...all/proddocs/en-us/gpedit_start.mspx?mfr=true

    Hope this helps,

Thanks a lot for the feedback, I'll definitely 'tinker' with that option.

I'm looking for something like what the 'Session' in 'Computer Management' does, but I want this log to retain this information even after a given session has finished.

If you are looking for the session log, can't you just look at the event log?
It should log all the open and connection attempt to the system or securiy log...

Yes, but I think it doesn't store information. I mean, it's there while the session is open, but afterwards when the session has ended, it can't be seen anymore.

Correct me please if I'm wrong, or if it can be configured somehow to keep information.

    Go to:
Start - Control Panel - Administrative Tools - Event Viewer.
There will be three main Logs: Application, security, system.
Right Click on the Log you want, and click on "Properties".
Change the Maximum log size as you need it, change the option to "Do not overwrite events".
This will store your events until log is full and let you know when it reaches the size limit.
