I saw this mentioned on a forum the other day which i can't find again....it said something about there being software that enables you to look behind other peoples passwords and hidden info? So like if i have my password written as ***** they will be able to see behind that.

Is there any way of protecting against this as i don't particularly want anyone going though my stuff here yanno? Or am i ok with all my AntiVir and other protection that i've downloaded from here?

    Calv,
If you have passwords on your hard drive that are just masked by asterisks (*****), and IF someone else can log in to your hard drive and install a password reader (there are dozens of them, and most are even FREEware: they're supposed to be used to discover passwords you used but forgot to record), that person can uncover your passwords with that reader. Yes, you can protect against this. Don't let anyone else install programs on your computer. Better: Don't let anyone else USE your computer.

    Here's a good freeware asterisk-covered-password-revealer:

We have these programs here including the one Wizewiz mentioned:

Basically, your not going to protect yourself from those easily. If someone has full access to your machine, these will benefit them. Remote access can be limited and local access is up to you to password protect your PC if concerned. Cant think of much else...

Maybe installing a keylogger program might help. This would enable you to see what others are up to on your pc.:D

http://www.majorgeeks.com/search.php and type in keylogger will give some suggested programs. Last one shown may be the one to check out first. Bazza
