More Information on \\ip.address

    This is a Windows OS question.

    Using RUN you can type, for example, \\192.168.0.50\d$ and it will open up the D: drive from that IP address if it's connected to the network. What other switches can you use from this type of command? I pick up these types of 'tricks' just from seeing people use a command like that, but I was wondering if there is a website out there that fleshes out all aspects of these commands.

    Generally, In XP the system can share drives for administrative purposes. the d$ you saw was most likely an administratively shared drive (probably drive D). If you go to shares under computer management in administrative tools, you'll see a list af all administrative shortcuts like that. you can add your own ones too, not quite sure how though. never needed to do it, so i don't know.
