Both of my wife's Win 7 systems took about 2 hours to connect to the update servers this evening. Both my Win 10 systems updated pretty well straight away. Looks like another way of putting pressure on 7 users to upgrade. Is this effect general?

My '7 isn't online much so will probably skip this one. My '8.1 just checked and had 4 listed. The huge rollup that I don't want and the other were codec/camera pack - I don't use, the regular malicious software tool- I skip, and defender definitions which I accepted. All told took 3 minutes and I still see no sign of anything '10.

Have not updated my win7 today but win8.1 update was quick. I actually want to upgrade my win8.1 to win10 soon. Still undecided about my win7 which I use most for office work and if I need to print.

I got (12) Important updates for Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit.
One was the monthly malicious software removal tool, (3) were for .NET Framework.
The process went as usual without excessive waiting.

I did not install KB3138612 which Microsoft says is replacing KB3135445.
It is a new version of the Windows Update Client.

Since it hasn't been confirmed yet what this update does and does not do, I'm waiting for further info before installing.

Does anyone know anything more about this update?

My Win 7 Updates took quite a while for the search but installation went normally.

My Win 8.1 updates varied from 15 to 17 (32-bit had the two extra ones) and I had a strange occurence in one of my 64-bit set ups. Upon restarting, a System Desktop Icon appeared for Home Group which I've never used! But, upon a second restart, the icon disappeared.

Windows 10 had 4 updates including a cumulative update for 1511 plus the usual Definition update.

Yes. We have four Windows 7 computer in the house and headaches with all of them.
I tried yesterday with computer 1 and the CPU usage went to 100%. The same thing today until it finally showed me the updates. I couldn't get any installed and finally stopped after 2 hours.

Computer 2 did get all the updates installed. I did them in 3 batches: 7 then 4 then the last 1 (kernel). The last one failed so I clicked try again and it installed.

Computer 3, I got 7 updates installed fairly fast but the next 4 must have taken more than an hour. The last update (kernel), I stopped after 2 hours also. It just showed 0KB of 0% for several hours.

Computer 4 has yet to be offered any updates.

Sadly, I can make complete images of four computers in a lot less time than it takes me to try and do the monthly updates!
