More server problems

OK, heres the deal:
My webserver crashed about a week ago. I had some problems with connecting to the internet(DSL), so i put in a new NIC, and a new HDD (pretty much just for the heck of it...) and installed Mandrake Linux. It, however, will not let me connect either (Yes, everything is plugged in). I've tried just about everything i can think of, and mandrake still cant connect when i use the wizzard, i keep getting the message "The system doesnt seem to be connected to the Internet. Try to reconfigure your connection."
Then:
"Problems occured during configuration. Test you connection via net_monitor or mcc. If your connection doesnt work, you might want to relaunch configuration"
The network monitor shows that there is some kind of activity (the little bars are moving...) and i'm not sure what the problem is.
Help!?!?!?!

Maybe your new NIC is not supported by Mandrake. I'm not familiar with where to find this information with Mandrake, but check and see if your new NIC is on a list of supported hardware/vendors. Also, ensure that you have the most up to date updates to the Kernel and other parts of the OS.

If this fails, try switching back to the old NIC and set that one up. Actually, maybe you should do that first. It would be a much quicker fix if it solves the problem.

 

thanks for the reply, but i tried that before posting. As i said, all was working fine with RedHat9, then when my server crashed, i was no longer able to get onto the internet. I got rid of Mandrake, and put Redhat9 back on, same problem with both NIC's. I know i'm setting it up the same, and CAN NOT figure out whats going on :-/ .
