Morrowind problem

I just bought morrowind today, installed and loaded it up. well game starts fine, goes threw intro and all, but when i tried to change from the first area to the next <from on the ship to deck of ship, my moniter just goes into Power save mode and i can't do anything. Music keeps playing untill end of song and doesn't repeat
WHAT I'VE TRIED
Reinstalled Chipset for board < lastest 4 in 1>
Reinstalled Raedon 9600pro catalist drivers.
Reinstalled Game, Now after i reinstalled game it worked past that point, but i leave for work and come home < i have had left game on, no save yet> and when i move to pick up some papers my moniter told me "Frequency Out of range" and i reboot
Any idea? i'm re re installing game as i type

xp 1900
Raedon 9600 pro 128meg
Moniter NEC FE991sb.

 

i guess i should add that i just upgraded video card to the 9600pro. old one was a ti200 128 meg and i did not haave game when i had that card.
Also other 3d apps liek Dark age of Camelot and Counter strike work fine.
I'm going to install old card to see if htat helps.
Also i reinstalled game and it froze quit on me when i was about to pick up my character ID papers

Tried installing the drivers for your monitor ?

tried both. Apperently its a problem with the catalyst drivers starting from 3.1 DLing 3.0 now apperently they should work
