MOSFETs where are they?

Anyone know where the MOSFETs are on my ASUS A7N8X-X? Also what do they look like?

MOSFETs (Metal-Oxide Semiconductor Field Effect Transistor)are a type of transistor. You won't be able to see them, they're VERY tiny. They're EVERYWHERE! Heh, they would be on the ICs in your computer, as well as many other places.

Out of curiosity, why do you ask?

I was reading an article in my pc upgrade magazine and they were talking about MOSFET cooling in your north and south bridge... pretty interesting article.

Post a pic of your mobo i will point out the main southbridge, nourthbridge and CPU feeder mosfets...

Or i could do a quick google search for a pic http://forums.majorgeeks.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif....I could be wrong but the 2 closest to the mem slots are the mem mosfets ( all 4 could be ) I couldent find the northbridge mosfet ( its possable that the southbridge mosfet feeds the northbridge as well ) The only ones im 100% shore of is the CPU mosfets and AGP mosfet....the CPU mosfets are the main ones to cool if your overclocking.....and if any of the mosfets ( the ones i pointed out or other ones) are getting warm / hot id put a heat sink on it / them ....and mosfets can be quite big Mada_Milty ....

 This still doesn't seem right...transistors are small enough to fit hundreds on those chips...

Perhaps what they mean is that those ICs are made with MOSFET technology...I know NPN & PNP transistors are outdated....

Generally transistors fall into the category of bipolar transistor, either the more common NPN bipolar transistors or the less common PNP transistor types. There is a further type known as a FET transistor which is an inherently high input impedance transistor with behaviour somewhat comparable to valves. Modern field effect transistors or FET's including JFETS and MOSFETS now have some very rugged transistor devices.

Read here and if you whant it in context read here under mosfet cooling...Thare is a big dif. between a transister and a mosfet... mosfets are normaly used for hi draw or vary fine voltage control ..
