New User here, looking for the best, and by best and mean most cost effective, way to upgrade my computer before I heard off to college. Here is what I got: Athlon Xp 1.1Ghz, 512 Kingston RAM, GIGABYTE GA-7VM400M, Geforce3 Ti200, and a SoundBlaster Live!. Please help me with a few different options I have for upgrading for gaming purposes. Thanks a ton. :p

There are things you can upgrade in your current pc.
Your board's FSB goes up to 333Mhz so the fastest processor you can handle would be a XP 3000+ @ 333Mhz

In that case you would need to upgrade your memory as well to PC 2700 or PC3200, if you dont already have it.

You would also need a newer video card to play todays games with higher settings. Right now the 9800 Pro is the best bang for the buck. I got mine just under $200

Now if you had the money. I would suggest going with a new system. Especially if you want to do some hardcore gaming.
