Hi, im wrking on a small webpage project, and i was wondering what the most common screen resolution used was. Im guessing either 1024 x 768 or 800 x 600. I dont want a horizontal scrollbar, but i dont want a gray border either.

    thanks,
    gimp

    Everyone I know has, 1024 x 768 or greater. Im on a low(ish) spec laptop and my display is 1024 x 768.

Not sure which is actually the most common but just thought Id let you know what everyone I know has got.

I always seem to use 1024 x 768, I thought that was most common, but who knows

I prefer a larger desktop but also seem to come back to 1024 x 768. 1024 x 768 is generally the primary size I design most websites for.

If its website design you thinking about dont forget, if you are trying to create a perfectly designed page, that it is now a legal requirement to allow the resizing of text used on a website, to comply with right of access issues. I.e. dont use text right out to the edges of the screen. Also realise it will be viewed in many different resolutions and character sets. the best, as in simplest, thing to do is to put in a resolution sniffer code to redirect the viewer to a correctly sized page if this is important.

It will be a cold day in hell when I can be told how to develop my website.. is this an UK law because I'm not aware of any such law here in the USA.

Thanks to the Americans with Disabilities Act, it may not be long (if it hasn't already happened) before someone is sued because someone else wasn't able to view a webpage correctly. Absurd? Absolutely.

After that, watch out for your friendly neighborhood senator to try and pass laws that require this or that in your webpage. It wouldn't surprise me if they already have something like this in the UK.

I would not like that so much I have a hard enough time with my web site as it is.
