Most Secure Browser?

I see most reviewers say that Chrome is the most secure browser, but some say Aviator is. And most of the reviewers I've read say that Firefox lags behind Chrome and IE in security, but under the heading of Pale Moon in the browser section of MG's top freeware picks, it says "geeks tend to lean toward Firefox over Chrome and Internet Explorer". Is there any consensus among MG's gurus?

Some of the 'geeks' here lean towards Pale Moon, mostly for stability reasons but the Dev team does a pretty good job with the security side as well.

Which is the most secure browser, that probably depends on the day of the week and which sites you visit.

If you believe MS's blurb, probably Edge now that IE's SmartScreen has (allegedly) been improved and expanded on. It's likely to block you downloading perfectly safe files just because they're 'new' or 'uncommon' though.

Once a user starts changing options, installing Add-ons and Plugins, all bets are off, no matter which browser it is.

Just to give you a heads-up Aviator has now been discontinued but the smart screen filter has been improved and so has windows defender in windows 10 but like Satrow says every browser is secure if you download the right add ons.

Thanks you guys, but since I'm gonna upgrade from Win7 to Win10, I think I'll just check out Edge first and if I don't like that, I'll try Chrome.

I can't wait to get another new external hard drive so I can do a system backup (the 1TB one I just got isn't big enough - I think I'll get a 5TB so I can keep 3 separate backups). After I do the backup, I'll upgrade from Win7 to Win10, and I'll have Edge. Thanks.
