mother board monitor5.3 probs

hello again, installed mother board monitor, and now i have a long pause between the boot screen and the welcome screen, i see no hard drive activity during this pause. ran spybot, adaware, virus scan. defragmented, uninstalled mbm. no change some one please help. p4 2.6, 80 gig hd, 512 mem, win xp home. the pause is a good 20 sec or better, driving me insane

edit: also did a reg clean with reg supreme

 

could be a problem with something trying to load up

so to quote someone else here(cant remember who )

 

nope still have the long pause in safe mode, i also tried a system restore, no difference

 

Get bootvis from this site.

it can optimize the boot process, and also give you an idea what is causing the slowness, in the form of a graph.

 

good idea, havent tried that one yet. i'll give it a go now and let ya know

 

ok, figured it out with some help from adrynalyne and bootvis, thanks for the idea adryalyne, good tool that had slipped my mind. anyway it was actually the card reader in my printer that was slowing me down. had this problem with an old puter and this printer before, but had forgoten about it. its an epson stylus photo 825 if anyone else has had probs fyi. thanks agian to everyone on this great board.
