Mother Board Needed

Anyone know of a reputable site to purchase an HP Pavilion dv9000 Laptop AMD Motherboard 459567-001 ?

Mine has ceased detecting my CD/DVD Drive.

 

Have you tried a different drive and cable yet? I'd always suspect the drive before the motherboard. Spending $150 for a new mobo needs one to be sure.

 

Thanks, but I have another problem. The computer won't boot from anything other than the hard drive. I went under BIOS and changed the order, but the Boot menu only contains the hard drive. Since the computer doesn't recognize the CD drive, I can't use the recovery disk.:cry

If you have to replace the board, a caveat: Unless you've disassembled and reassembled notebook PCs before, it's not a project for the faint of heart. Given the number of tiny screws and delicate cables, it's one degree of separation from watch and jewelry repair: even a small mistake can cause major damage to cables or the new board.

If unsure, consult an independent PC repair shop. My wholesale cost on sending notebooks out for board replacement is between $130-$150 (parts and labor); you should be able to find a shop that will do the whole thing (with a 30-90 day warranty) for about $200 total including both the board and labor.

If you still want to do it yourself, go on eBay and look for Top Rated Sellers that offer at least a 30-day return policy if the new board is DOA.
