    Hi,

Which HP model PC do you have and which softpaq did you use for the BIOS flash?

We have to find a working BIOS file to reflash. Have you found a link to a working BIOS file in your research and just need help getting it to CD?

I have a HP Pavillion Media Centre M7575a
I think I have a working file, I downloaded the bios update from HP and opened the exe with winrar and retrieved flash.exe and 317.rom
I don't know what u mean by softpaq

I think the easiest way is to use a CD if you have a blank one available. Using a USB flash drive is a bit more complicated to get it bootable.

Softpaq is just a naming convention for an HP file such as the current BIOS is inside SP35100. The current BIOS is 319.rom. If you are sure the 317.rom is correct for your machine I can put together an ISO file for you to burn to CD for the flash. I'm guessing you have read a thread where the 317.rom worked for others in your situation?

You can give me a link to the file you extracted the 317.rom file from or I can give you instructions for building your own ISO to burn to CD.

I couldn't get both versions of the BIOS on a single CD so I put two versions together.

One has 317.rom and one has 319.rom. It is up to you which one you use. I haven't read any threads on your particular model so don't know if v.319 is a problem or if it is just a bad flash from Windows. My guess is either will work. The awdflash program should give you an error if the file is incompatible with your system.

    317CD is here.

    319CD is here.

Download the ISO and burn it as an image file to CD. Imgburn can do it using the "Write Image File to Disc" option. Boot from the CD. At the A:> prompt type in

    awdflash 317.rom
    or
    awdflash 319.rom

See if it accepts the .rom file. If it accepts it should say something about don't turn off computer and when finished go back to the A: prompt. Then reboot without CD and see if it will start normally.

    Great! You are welcome. :)

Thanks for letting others know that 319.rom is a valid BIOS file and that the problem was with the HP Windows flash program. It should help others who might have the same problem.
