    Hello everybody!

First of all I hope I posted this correctly. :confused
I have a little issue here with a motherboard. I need to know if my motherboard is capable of supporting another internal hard drive of 1TB.
I have currently a 250GB SATA hard disk drive. I'm a bit scared that the motherboard won't support a 1TB (or even a 500GB) hard disk drive.

I have coppied a part of the report from the EVEREST HOME EDITION program. I googled it already but I did not get much wizer.
My pc is a ACER Aspire T180-GE7Z

    Thanks for any help!

    Hi

While this is a UK spec one of the T180 if its like yours I see no reason that it will not support an external HDDfor 500 or 1TB, I have an older that that Compaq laptop that supports my 500GB extermal WD passport HDD.

Just make sure your Windows is fully upto date to SP3.

    Hello
Thanks for your answer! Although I was actually referring to an internal drive.
The thing is I don't want any external hdd as you mentionned.
    Awaiting your reaction...
    Many thanks

not 100% sure but I believe that the size is dependent on the OS (if you can see it or not)
as long as you can hook up data/power cables and your power supply can handle it
if you got xp sp3 you should be fine (i think even sp2 will do)

it should usually depend on the way its formatted not the OS. I have 2 myself and running vista and xp and both see them. The only thing is you want to format as ntfs.

Thanks again to all for answering!
I have currently XP SP2 in an NTFS format.
    So that should be ok.

As others have already said, your motherboard should be able to support it. Just make sure you check if you want SATA or IDE, based on the connections inside the tower. You don't want to buy a SATA drive only to discover that your only free connectors are IDE. :)

I would expect there to be more problems from a weak powersupply, if you add another hard drive. Do you know what the output from you PSU is?

The connection of the hdd is sata. And I recently bought a new 600w power supply.
    Thanks for the help guys.
    Consider this one solved!

I phrased that a little wrong but Thats what I ment
Depending on the format is if the OS will see it or not
    like window won't see a EXT3/4 file system but will a FAT32/exFat/NTFS
and like how linux doesn't like exFAT

In future I will phrase it better :)
